Ningbo, a birthplace of 'He Mu Du civilization'
with 7000 years' history, be shorted of 'Yong', is located in
the east seashore, the middle of the mainland coasting and the south
Yangtse River delta. Since Tang and Song dynasty, it always has been
one of the most important port of foreign trade. Nowadays, Ningbo
will be further open city in plan and has the power to make local
regulation, it is the national historical cultural city. It
administers six counties and five sections. The city's total area
is 9365sq.km. and the city center occupied 2560sq.km.,the population
is 5.4619 million, including 2.0341 million of the center.
Since reforming and opening, the social economic is developing
rapidly. In 2002, the domestic product gross is 150.03 billion RMB,
fiscal revenue is 25.8400 billion RMB, the residents' average
disposable income is 12970 RMB, and the average net income of the
farmers is 5764 RMB. Ranked 20th among the 219 cities that are above
region on synthesis strength, listed in the 50 tops of China cities
on synthesis strength and 40 tops on investment environment. Now,
Ningbo is one of the important industrial city and foreign trade
port in Huadong area, the center city and chemical industry base in
Yangtse River delta, and also has been the economic center of
Zhejiang.
There are excellent grow conditions and foundations. We own Beilun
harbor that is one of four international transfer harbors in China.
In 2002,the cargo throughput of the harbor is 153 million tons, rank
the second in land ports of China.The container throughput reached
1.858million standard boxes. We own traditional industry such as
clothing, textile, machinery etc. and large industrial system as
petrochemistry, steel, electric power, papermaking. Furthermore,
there are national-level economic and technological development
zone, Daxie development zone, and the bonded area that operates
according to the international routines. There are more than 300000
Ningbo people and their descendants that are sojourning in 64
countries and regions abroad. We also have 200 units of keystone
cultural relic protection, honored with the title of excellent
tourist city.
Ningbo has been the center city of the south Yangtse River delta and
the important trade port gradually. In the journey of new century,
